Job summary

This is a very exciting time for Bridlington Hospital due to new and evolving services on site. Johnson ward is an evolving stroke and general rehabilitation unit supporting the rehabilitation needs of the East Coast. The ward feeds into the stroke services from Hull and York.

Bridlington Community Unit was opened in January 2022 to support the acute site with ongoing bed pressures, by saving thousands of acute bed days, which supports the acute flow at Scarborough Hospital. The unit supports patients who are awaiting social care input and has made a positive impact on the acute site.

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic individual to support these developing services within the Medical Care Group at Bridlington Hospital. The successful candidate will work alongside a diverse MDT team to develop the service and provide strong leadership across the two areas.

The role is to consistently drive excellent clinical quality standards by providing visible clinical leadership to the team and support them in the delivery of high quality, effective and evidence based care. Focus will be on patient experience, patient safety and providing assurance those standards are met for every patient, every time.

As a senior sister you will have excellent leadership skills and will embrace the challenge of working in a highly demanding and diverse environment, while actively supporting the nursing team to ensure high standards of care are delivered.

Main duties of the job

- To improve patient care standards, encourage effective collaboration among nurses, and the multi-disciplinary team.

- To undertake clinical shifts.

- Provide professional leadership to nurses, and other staff members, acting as a role model, ensuring that competence in managerial and clinical practice is both developed and maintained

- To drive the development of the Stroke rehabilitation service, and support to improve the SSNAP rating.

- To continue to develop the service on Bridlington Community Unit.

- To undertake audits within your clinical area, to monitor and improve the standards of care.
