Looking to develop your managerial capabilities within our materials testing team at Doncaster? CTS are in search of an ambitious Laboratory Manager to support the Regional Director.

The position is to have managerial responsibility on a day to day basis and to help manage a dynamic team and support business growth.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Manager to join the department. The position is to provide management responsibility for the materials testing laboratories covering soils, concrete and aggregates.

Key Tasks Include:

  • Manage day-to-day laboratory operations
  • Enforce laboratory protocols and procedures
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • To ensure that test samples are tested expediently and efficiently in accordance with UKAS standards and Customer's requirements.
  • To ensure that the laboratory maintains its capability to cope with workload.
  • Develop, implement and measure effective operational KPIs
  • To set priorities of workload to meet Customer requirements and to coordinate, manage and direct the day to day activities of the laboratory staff.
  • To ensure the full capability of the laboratory is achieved in terms of staffing and equipment.
  • To be responsible for the Health & Safety of all laboratory personnel and the implementation of the Company safety policy, in conjunction with the Regional Director.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have an excellent technical understanding of techniques and equipment covering a variety of construction materials tests, with a minimum 5 years working in a managerial role.

In addition, as well as having experience of working in a materials testing environment and the day-to-day responsibility of managing the team, candidates will demonstrate the ability to develop a team and the ability to effectively communicate at all levels internally and with clients
