Purpose

To be accountable for the delivery and good governance of a multi-disciplinary therapy service by assessing, implementing (by self or junior staff), and evaluating programmes of personalised rehabilitation and care as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

To provide strong effective leadership and management of the therapies team including recruitment, appraisal, and performance.

Main duties of the job

The role carries line management responsibility for Therapy Team Manager

The post holder is expected to foster good relationships and work closely with multidisciplinary teams, both internal and external

Responsible for working alongside and/or supporting volunteers within their team.

Responsible to maintain robust communication networks with the Head of Clinical Services and Service Director and other agencies and professions.

Responsible to develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders.

The post holder is expected to represent Brainkind at meetings/forums as required.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Main Responsibilities but not limited to

To lead, motivate and manage the therapy team.

Responsible for the units complex caseload (relevant to role) to provide highly specialist treatment programmes to meet individual needs and outcomes. To assess individual service user needs and develop an appropriate therapy programme to meet those needs.

Responsible to ensure practice complies with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and relevant professional standards and ethics, including Brainkind Standards of Care

To implement evidence-based practice, ensuring effective service provision and positive outcomes

To ensure appropriate provision and maintenance of equipment within available resources

To share knowledge and expertise with other staff through formal and informal teaching within the therapy team and across the wider centre

Responsible to continuously develop team knowledge and expand clinical/rehabilitation skills and effectiveness.

To work closely with other areas of the organisation including fundraising, marketing, and policy/campaigns by providing information and analysis to support the delivery of the organisational strategy.

Facilitating the safe and smooth running of the Service, the post holder is expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally take on reasonable additional tasks.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

BSc degree level qualification in either Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy Management degree or equivalent experience Registered with Health and Care Professionals Council

Desirable

Experience of managing a team of staff including setting objectives, appraisal, recruitment, and disciplinary issues An ability to work autonomously and to set own and others priorities. An ability to confidently assess and manage risk in relation to therapist/therapy service performance. An ability to organise, co-ordinate and respond efficiently to complex information. Competent IT skills Knowledge of relevant legislation and its impact on current practice Excellent advanced communication skills Ability to build effective working relationships. Motivational skills and goal setting for personalised care Leadership and visionary skills to motivate and enthuse the therapy team.
