Job summary

Main duties of the job

The post has continuing responsibilities for:

Co-ordinating the activities of the ward/departmental team to ensure the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised holistic patient care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, to the standards set out in Essence of Care. Encouraging an environment of empowerment through coaching, teaching and facilitating. Managing the ward/department in the absence of the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse Managing the bed/unit bleep and co-ordinating flow alongside the site team and surgical flow matron Ensuring support for all staff on the orthopaedic unit on a night

Proven experience at Band 5 in an orthopaedic setting Evidence of having developed skills within the Scope of Professional Practice relevant to the area of responsibility Evidence of ward/dept management under supervision of the person with 24 hour continuing responsibility

Desirable

Proven experience at Band 6 Evidence of research based practice

Qualifications

Essential

RGN with current registration Demonstrate professional post-registration development

Desirable

Participate in management development courses 1st professional degree
