Main duties of the job

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, committed individual with a background in colorectal, surgical or cancer nursing. This post is for a Band 6 Colorectal Clinical NurseSpecialist (CNS) role . This is an exciting time as we develop new and innovative services for our colorectal patients. You must be innovative, enthusiastic and an excellent team player. You will join a team of specialist nurses providing specialist nursing care for patients undergoing colorectal cancer treatments including stoma surgery and take part in the 2 week fast track triage service.

Commitment to both the ongoing developments within the colorectal nursing team and your professional development as a clinical nurse specialist are crucial. You will be expected to exercise a degree of professional autonomy and make critical judgments using advanced knowledge and skills to provide the highest standard of patient care. You will have clinical responsibilities and will need to be an effective and supportive role model with the ability to work in a flexible yet organised manner.

You will be educated to degree level with relevant experience within the specialty and have excellent communication skills.

Job responsibilities

Ensure a high standard of safe clinical care and record keeping in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council, national legislation and local standards.
