Job overview

The Deputy to the Divisional Director of Nursing MRC (DDON) is a key member of the Divisional Nursing Team who acts as a role model for outstanding clinical leadership and management of Nurses, Midwives and AHPs. The post-holder plays a vital role in supporting the DDON in developing and implementing the Divisional strategy in line with the Trust’s vision, values and strategic goals. This person will deputise for the Director of Nursing in her absence and lead several key workstreams of their behalf.

The Deputy to the Director of Nursing will be required to work collaboratively and develop effective communication with a range of colleagues both in the Division and throughout the Trust. 

Main duties of the job

• Strategic development: support the DDON in the development of the strategic direction for the Division, deputising for the DDON as required.
• Operational Performance: work with the Divisional Senior Nurses to support, lead, influence and guide the development and delivery of excellent nursing care and in the delivery of the Division’s Business Plan.
• Workforce planning and resourcing: support the DDON in ensuring that the Division has the right nursing and AHP staff in the right place at the right time, working in partnership across the Trust and participating in Trust-wide groups as appropriate.
• Clinical governance: promote the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality patient care by nursing staff and set high standards in line with regulatory and commissioner requirements alongside Trust and Divisional strategic objectives.
• Clinical and Professional leadership: act as a visible role model for outstanding professional leadership to Nurses, Midwives and AHP’s in the Division and work alongside the DDON in ensuring that they make the fullest contribution to the development and delivery of the Division’s strategic goals.
• Trust-wide developments: support the DDON in developing, implementing and responding to Trust-wide policies, strategies and developments and service transformation.

Working for our organisation

As with all clinical divisions in the Trust, we are responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of services within our area in line with Trust strategies, policies, and procedures.

The Division contains three clinical directorates led by Clinical Directors and supported by the Divisional Executive Team, Operational Service Managers, Matrons and other relevant experts. The Division has approximately , employees based at JR, Churchill, the NOC, and Banbury sites.
