Job summary

We are looking for a Registered Nurse or Nursing associate to join our team within UHL at Ashton

UHL at Ashton is based in the Ashton Care home in Hinckley with 24 ensuite bedrooms.

This is a short stay facility utilised by University Hospitals of Leicester for patients that no longer require acute medical care in a hospital setting.

The Nursing and Therapy team based at Ashton are trained to work with the patients to provide the best care and experience to enable a safe and timely discharge.

Main duties of the job

Registered Nurses:

Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing andevaluating programmes of evidence-based nursing care.

Assist in and contribute to the management and organizationof a ward/clinical area.

Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards ofquality nursing care.

Actively participate in the education, development andsupervision of other staff members.

Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet theneeds of patients and their families.

Registered Nursing Associate:

To provide and monitor safe, person-centered care for a designated group of patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse, without direct supervision, in line with an agreed plan of care.

To support the registered nurse in the contribution to ongoing assessment and care planning for patients.

To promote health and prevent ill-health in patients and service users and contribute to integrated care.

To monitor the condition and health needs of patients on a continual basis in partnership with colleagues, families and carers, referring to others for reassessment, when required.

The Nursing Associate will actively contribute to an effective learning environment and support others in their learning.

Nursing Associates will adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Conduct for Nurses, Midwives and Nursing Associates and work within their scope of practice .

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

Registered Nurse or Registered Nursing Associate with Active NMC PIN Demonstrates a commitment to further learning and personal development Demonstrates satisfactory clinical expertise for the grade applied for. Experience will be dependent on the post/ward requirements at the time of recruitment.

Desirable

Has successfully completed an previous NMC Approved Teaching and Assessing or Practice Assessor programme or equivalent

Clinical Skills, Knowledge and Ability

Essential

Good basic understanding of the importance of delivering high quality clinical nursing care Demonstrates understanding of quality and change and the importance of new ways of working. Able to present factual written and verbal information and deal with questions

Desirable

Previous Nursing Experience of 12 months

Leadership and Education

Essential

Demonstrates the ability to communicate well in a variety of settings with patients of all cultures and with differing levels of understanding Understands the importance of teamwork and their role within the multi-disciplinary team Recognises own level of competence and limitations
