Morrison Water Services  part of the M Group Services Water Division are the leading service provider in the water and wastewater infrastructure sectors in the UK.  The Water Division's' One MEICA team  is currently looking to recruit a Commercial Manager to join us,  One MEICA  a newly formed business made up from the integration of ID Systems, I&C Process Solutions, PMP Utilities and Z-Tech Control Systems, creating a MEICA business offering, with UK Coverage. This role is predominately based in the South of England, but will require UK travel based on business need. There will be hybrid working available.

This is a highly challenging role working a team of commercial resources responsible for all commercial functions required to support successful delivery of our contract requirements and internal performance targets. The role will initially be focused on supporting and guiding the existing commercial team to develop and implement processes and procedures to deliver targeted improvements set out by the Contract Director.

Additionally, a key element of the role is to forge a strong relationship with your client counterparts, to ensure the commercial functions are jointly managed with relevant challenge when required, whilst ensuring compliance with M Group policies, procedures and principles.

As a Commercial Manager your duties and responsibilities will be

Building a strong relationship with client counterparts. To assist and advise the contract management team on commercial influences around Cost and Value reporting and changes required to ensure profit targets are met. To ensure all Morrison and Client processes are followed to minimise WIP (outstanding cash) and keep WIP within the contract and business target. Attend Monthly Commercial Meetings both internally and with clients. To support preparation of Contract Budget Forecasts, including the review of contract specific Margin improvement plans to maximise profitability. To be an effective negotiator at both internal and client levels, and being able to demonstrate the ability and attitude to liaise with staff at Director Status. To produce Weekly and Monthly CVR’s and to present both to the Contract Director and Senior Commercial Manager providing clear narrative with supporting evidence where need to explain in period movements and future risks and opportunities. To ensure procurement and management of sub-contractors and other suppliers aligns with the strategies set out by the Contract Director and that internal governance steps are followed in all circumstances. Provide Workstream level input into cash flow and aged debt reporting. To implement new process as set out by the Contract Director and Senior Commercial Manager and where appropriate identify and provide feedback on existing process risks both in terms of compliance and fitness for purposes. To be the escalation point in the Early Warning and Compensation Event process. To support the Senior Commercial Manager with any adjudication matters. To support with commercial bidding matters for contracts when / if required. To support the Senior Commercial Manager with any Contract Changes including identifying key data points and providing assurance on the accuracy of the same.

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

Effective communication, negotiation and Presentation skills Detailed knowledge, understanding and previous experience of high value NEC contracts, experience in a capital delivery space would be beneficial.  Knowledge of work activities undertaken - Administrative and Operational. An understanding of all relevant statutory, regulatory and company policies and guidelines. The ability and desire to identify opportunities for improvement, and influence change. Knowledge of service delivery within the utilities sector. Excellent foresight and ability to plan ahead. Client focus – build sound relationships with other senior leaders in partnership. Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CIOB) – beneficial Relevant Hons Degree level qualification or equivalent.
