  • Collaborating closely with the Head of Cloud Platforms & SRE, Programme Manager, Senior Product Manager, and Architecture Teams to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of infrastructure initiatives and department objectives.

  • Engaging with your direct reports across group to drive the convergence and improvement of support and delivery processes.
  • Taking responsibility for the strategy towards cloud adoption, working closely with the product teams to shape new platform features and a migration strategy for legacy applications.
  • Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to gauge the efficiency, impact, and success of the infrastructure teams.
  • Coach and educate your direct reports on Agile, SRE and product best-practices.
  • Ensure continuous adherence to Sky and industry security standards and policies.
  • Serving as a role model for Team Leads and Principal Engineers, emphasising consistent communication, clear prioritisation, and robust objective-setting as integral components of Performance Development Plans (PDPs).
  • Leading and motivating the SRE & Infrastructure, fostering a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement, while also providing professional development opportunities for all team members.
What you'll bring
Required:
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team of SRE & Infrastructure Engineers, demonstrating strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Proficiency in a wide range of cloud & infrastructure technologies, including but not limited to Azure, AWS, Windows, Unix, Virtualisation, Database and Unix technologies.
  • Track record of successfully delivering large-scale infrastructure projects on time and within budget, with experience in project management methodologies such as Agile or ITIL.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for SRE & infrastructure engineering, aligning technology solutions with the department goals and objectives.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with internal stakeholders, understanding their evolving needs, and providing solutions.
  • Experience in vendor selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing vendor relationship management to ensure cost-effective and efficient infrastructure services.
  • Knowledge of industry compliance standards (e.g., ISO, NIST, GDPR) and experience in implementing security measures and protocols to protect infrastructure and data.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. (Not essential if you have related experience or aptitude).
  • Certifications in ITIL Foundation, Practitioner, or greater, reflecting a clear understanding of infrastructure best lifecycle and best practices.
  • Certifications in Agile management, such as Scaled Agile Framework, Certified Scrum Product Owner or similar.
