What are we looking for?

Cleveland Clinic London are looking to recruit a Trainee Echo Physiologist to join our HVTI Team on a fixed term of 18 months during which time, you will work through a program of learning.

This is a full-time role with the following shift patterns: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week, flexible working pattern of either 4 or 5 working days per week between the hours of 08:00-20:00. There will also be non-clinical time allocated to study and revision.

In conjunction with and supported by a designated training supervisor, you will progress through the training program completing a mixture of workplace hands on experience and self-directed learning to align with the transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) curriculum as outlined by the British Society of Echocardiography. This learning will align with preparing for and completion of the BSE TTE accreditation process. 

What will your duties include?

Observe, and then perform and interpret routine cardiac investigations.

Where there is a preference, perform specialised diagnostic investigations.

Carry out complex scientific and clinical roles, including those working directly with patients. 

Assist the Lead Echo Physiologists and other senior members of the team in the day-to-day organisation and delivery of the diagnostic service. 

In addition, you will be expected to undertake a research or audit project within CCL.

Engage in learning processes within CCL (i.e. MDT, teaching session, case-based discussions).

What we need from you?

A 1st or 2:1 in either an undergraduate honours degree (including an integrated master’s degree) in Cardiac Physiology (PTP) or a relevant scientific subject (examples include Pure or Applied Physics, Biology or Human Biology, or Sports Science, etc).

Alternative/vocational qualification plus sufficient and relevant experience and appropriate underpinning knowledge and skills in cardiology – as evidenced for example by appropriate Voluntary Registration with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists or Academy for Healthcare Science.

Ability to communicate with patients who have complex and acute conditions – Essential .

Ability to write clear, accurate and concise clinical reports – Essential .

Knowledge across a range of cardiac physiology exams within non-invasive cardiology procedures underpinned by academic theory – Essential .

Previous experience in non-invasive cardiac physiology diagnostics – Desirable.

Demonstrates physiology technical troubleshooting – Desirable .

Knowledge of transthoracic anatomical windows, orientation, and anatomy – Desirable .

Previous exposure +/- experience with echocardiography – Desirable .

Independent practice in invasive cardiac physiology techniques – Desirable .
