Job summary

Western Medical Services are seeking professional, skilled and compassionate First Responders to join our team of 'Bank/ADHOC' First Responders.

As an First Responders within Western Medical Services you will play a crucial role in providing emergency first response medical care to individuals in need and assist registered clinicians in providing emergency medical care. This is a rewarding role giving opportunities in a variety of different working areas to make a difference to those in need.

Main duties of the job

Working as an Emergency Care Attendant within Western Medical Services you will have opportunities to work within all our NHS contracted and private services. This includes

HDU/Emergency Transport. High Acuity Patient Transport. 'Safe Bus' Night-time Economy Medical and Welfare Services. Nationwide and European Repatriations. Event Medical Services.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Treating patients within the agreed scope of practice and making referrals for advanced medical support in line with the Pre-Hospital Early Warning Score as appropriate. Provide assistance to colleagues, Healthcare Professionals and the wider emergency services where needed. Act in a professional manner always whilst representing Western Medical Services. Maintain a high standard of appearance, fitness for role and wear the Western Medical Services Uniform with pride ensuring compliance with the uniform and personal standards policy. Understand and follow all role relevant policies of Western Medical Services. Responsible for ensuring all equipment is fit for purpose, clean, stocked and stored in line with Western Medical Services. Always maintain patient and client confidentiality. Ensure a high standard of paperwork, including patient report forms. Attend any training events as deemed appropriate by Western Medical Services to maintain competency and personal development for role. Act as a mentor to new members of the team as required. To perform any other duties commensurate with these responsibilities, the grade of the post and skill and qualifications of the post-holder. Person Specification

Previous experience within the event medical/independent ambulance sector

Must be available to work some weekends Physically fit and able to undertake the physical aspects of the role Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels Ability to complete relevant paperwork to a high standard Demonstrate ability to work in crowds and noisy environments Ability to work in a team and also to use own initiative when necessary.

Qualifications

Essential

Hold a recognised First Responder qualification ( FREC 3 or above, FPOS or equivalent) Good levels of reading and writing in the English Language

Driving

Desirable

Full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points
