Are you a resilient and compassionate individual dedicated to supporting children who have faced trauma? Do you possess the skills to de-escalate challenging situations and build trustworthy bonds with students? If you have a deep understanding of how trauma affects children and are committed to guiding them in an understanding and caring manner.
The alternative provision are dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for children who may have experienced trauma and also special educational needs. They believe in the power of resilience and the importance of creating a nurturing space where every child can thrive. The team is committed to helping children feel safe, comfortable, and understood as they navigate their educational journey.
Role and Responsibilities: As a Behavioural Specialist, you will:
· Work full-time to support children who have faced trauma, providing them with the care and understanding they need.
· Implement effective strategies to de-escalate any situations that may arise, ensuring a calm and safe environment.
· Develop strong, trustworthy bonds with students to help them feel secure and supported.
· Set positive examples for students, fostering a culture of respect and resilience.
· Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create individualized support plans for each child.
· Monitor and report on the progress of students, adjusting strategies as necessary to support their growth.
· Guide children in a compassionate manner, helping them understand and cope with the effects of trauma.
Qualifications and Experience:
· Proven experience working with children who have experienced trauma, preferably in an educational or therapeutic setting.
· Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and behaviour management techniques.
· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
· Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support and guide children.
· Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, social work, or a related field.
· Experience with children with special educational needs (SEN) or a keen interest in working with SEN children is highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
