Stafford’s new-look Gatehouse Theatre is the jewel in the crown of the county town. The Gatehouse Theatre is a semi-producing house that provides opportunity for creativity. Creating new and innovative theatre is important to us, from the annual Shakespeare at Stafford Castle to an excellent Youth Theatre programme not to mention some of the best touring productions, and your involvement will be key.

We are looking for a Theatre Technician to join our team. Our current team are now taking a bigger focus of producing our own events and as such we are looking for an experienced Theatre Technician with strong all round skills. Our aim is to develop a strong and focused team to enable us to achieve our ambitious targets. We aim to be an exciting venue presenting a busy programme of drama, music, musical theatre and comedy throughout the year as well as producing our own productions.

To provide a high quality of technical services and support to all incoming shows and users of the venue, support at Stafford Castle for the annual Shakespeare event and other events managed by Freedom Leisure.

Hours: Casual hours, as and when required.

Requirements

Technical experience in a touring venue or similar Patching, Rigging and focusing lanterns Good organisational skills Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance on lighting, sound and stage associated equipment. High awareness of health and safety requirements and best practice. Helpful and friendly personality Good time management Able to work alone or as part of the team Excellent verbal and listening skills. Good written skills Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of artists and customers. Ability to cope with physically demanding work, willingness to work unsocial hours and weekends when necessary and work in a demanding environment. Ability to undertake manual lifting/carrying Ability to work at heights Reliability and punctuality A commitment to proving a good quality service and continuous improvement Willingness to work evenings and weekends A DBS check is required for this vacancy
