An exciting new opportunity has opened up at the North Wales site for an Engineering Software Apprentice to join the Design and Development team. The successful candidate will form part of the experienced engineering team located on this site and will be responsible for developing engineering processes in-line with business requirements. Applied Software Engineering Degree Apprenticeship BSc (Hons)

Job Outline:

We are seeking a highly self-motivated, creative and hard-working candidate. In this role the candidate will be responsible for completing an Engineering Degree, a National Vocational Qualification and an internal training plan alongside day-to-day tasks within the work environment. The candidate’s responsibilities will increase within the engineering team as their knowledge and understanding develops.

Key Responsibilities:

The main duties of this position (increasing in autonomy as knowledge grows) will include:

Liaising with a world class team of design engineers, operations personal and business group members on technical matters.Software development:Developing technical software for design engineering in the field of optics.Developing technical software for optical manufacturing, including hardware automation.Involvement in the whole development lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance.Administering and enhancing a company-wide PLM system, while working closely with vendors and technical experts.Providing 3rd party software support to design engineers.

Qualifications Required:

It is essential that all applicants have a high level of general education and must have, or expect to receive, a minimum of

2 x B grades at A-Level (excluding General Studies). The role will require proficiency with Mathematics and Physics, so it is essential that at least one of the A-levels are in Mathematics and/or Physics.

You should also hold GSCE qualifications in Mathematics and Science at grade B or above, and English at grade C or above.

Candidates must also be highly computer literate.
