EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

As a Technical Operator, you’ll be part of a dynamic team operating a pilot water treatment process which will provide information integral to the success of our newest asset Witches Oak Water Treatment Works in Nottingham. This is a great opportunity to develop new skills and get hands on with the latest industry technology. You will work alongside a dedicated operational team, process team and team manager to gather, test and analyse water quality samples, carry out routine daily checks, record and interpret process information and operate the treatment processes using control interfaces such as HMIs and SCADA. 

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

• Operate abstraction, raw water intake (RWI) and pilot plant water treatment process.
• Maintain & improve site standards/ identify Health and Safety improvements.
• Operate the assets under your control to ensure that all quality and quantity limits are met.
• Gather water quality samples and carry out lab analysis to gain insight of key parameters providing critical information on the expected performance of a full scale treatment process.
• Ensure the Health & Safety of yourself, colleagues, visitors, and members of the public is maintained at all times.
• Ensure sites are operated at a minimum cost in an energy efficient way.
• Comply with statutory, company policies and procedures.
• Operate the assets under your control to ensure that there is no adverse impact on the environment.

We’re big believers in training, learning, and development at Severn Trent. So as part of the role, you will undertake a Level apprenticeship as part of your technical training. This training will take a minimum of months, up to months with days a month in Coventry at our Academy.

As part of the training, we’ll also help you to achieve a Functional skills level qualification if you’re not able to evidence your GCSE grades. There is lots of support available to complete this before you take your qualification, and you can have up to months to get ready.

In addition to this, you will complete a portfolio of work that will be assessed at the end of your training and you will also be assessed independently on site to demonstrate you are capable to carry out all of your role.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

Having an excellent organisation skills and be efficient with the capability of completing a number of tasks at once whilst working well under pressure would be advantageous. We are looking for a candidate who can work unsupervised and within a team framework to meet deadlines and good communication skills. Having the ability to analyse information to spot potential problems would be beneficial and working shifts would be desirable. A full UK driving licence will be required for the role.
