We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Science Technician to join our school in Bishop's Stortford starting in September 2024. As a Science Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the science department and enhancing the learning experience for our students.

 

About the Role:

The Science Technician will be responsible for preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring that all practical lessons run smoothly and efficiently. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide technical support during lessons, help set up experiments, and maintain a safe and organised laboratory environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare and set up laboratory equipment and materials for science lessons

- Assist teachers during practical lessons, providing technical support and guidance to students

- Maintain and organise laboratory equipment, ensuring it is in good working order

- Ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to within the laboratory

- Manage the inventory of laboratory supplies and order new materials as needed

- Support the science department in developing and improving practical resources

 

Requirements:

- Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a similar role is desirable

- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety protocols

- Excellent organisational and time management skills

- Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and students

- Strong communication skills and attention to detail

- A passion for science and education
