The Opportunity:

As a Senior Project Engineer in Interiors, you will play a critical role in our engineering endeavours. You will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of closure systems for our innovative vehicle models.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for Design for manufacture and assembly for responsible components.
  • Own the relevant section within interiors.
  • Report to Principal Project Engineers responsible for the relevant commodities.
  • Prepares full project documents.
  • Develops new techniques and/or improved processes, materials or products.
  • Engineering responsibility (including design and release) of one of the vehicle interior systems: Cockpit system (Instrument panel, Centre Console Door Trims, HVAC), Seats, Safety and Restraints systems, Cabin Trim (Upper trim, Lower and rear trim, NVH).
  • Ensuring responsible designs meet legal compliance.
  • 3D package modelling.
  • Manager interface with styling.
  • Work Package management.
  • Design sizing analysis: Sub system loads, joints and interfaces, materials selection, bolt calculations.
  • Assembly level simulation.
  • Cost, timing and mass.
  • Identify and highlight any areas for continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and support professional development of all colleagues.

Who you are:

  • Strong and proven relevant experience within automotive interiors.
  • Automotive experience essential.
  • Ability to lead the project tasks of moderate scope and complexity.
  • A ‘can do' attitude and are always focused on achieving great results.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders & drive towards a common goal.
