We are looking for applicants who are suitably qualified and experienced to join us as a Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, who upon successful completion of their course will graduate to a substantive PWP role. You will work in our clinical service, whilst undertaking a taught Certificate in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy delivered by Exeter University. You will develop skills and knowledge that enables you to offer evidenced based psychological interventions to people who experience common mental health problems, whilst working in a supportive environment that offers high quality supervision in both individual and group-based settings. Our strong emphasis on workforce wellbeing will mean you are working in a team that seeks to create a collaborative and compassionate culture focused on delivering an efficient and effective service for the people of Gloucestershire.

Main duties of the job

Your main responsibilities will include delivering low intensity psychological interventions to a caseload of patients encountering common mental health problems, facilitating psychoeducational courses, undertaking initial assessments, as well as receiving caseload and clinical skills supervision. You will also work closely with GP's and staff in Primary Care to improve access and develop resources aimed at promoting mental health and emotional wellbeing. Alongside your in-service days you will attend taught days delivered by the University of Exeter; this will consist of part remote and part attendance at a venue in Bristol which is TBC. You will be supported to meet the academic expectations and course requirements stipulated by the University of Exeter.

Job responsibilities

Our Service provides evidenced based psychological interventions using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other NHS Talking Therapies approved modalities. We deliver treatment over the telephone, in groups via webinars, face to face, online video and using computerised therapy options as part of a stepped care model. The Gloucestershire Mental Health Intermediate Care Service is a County wide Service that incorporates the NHS Talking Therapies service and the Primary Care mental health nursing team. It is made up of 4 clinical teams situated across Gloucestershire, with a number of satellite bases. We employ over 100 therapists and are passionate about improving access to psychological therapies. We pride ourselves on our clinical model that focuses on delivering high quality care that consistently exceeds the IAPT recovery standard.

Each MHICT team includes a Clinical lead, Team manager, Psychological Therapists, Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, working alongside Primary Care Mental Health nurses. We also train significant numbers of trainee therapists

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to Degree level or equivalent in a subject enabling the post holder to demonstrate psychological mindedness psychology, social sciences or health OR Evidence of ability to study successfully at undergraduate year 1 level / Regulated Qualifications Framework Level 5

Desirable

Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or within a psychological therapy. Received training (either formal or through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice

Experience

Essential

Significant evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem. Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care.

Desirable

Experience of working in Primary Care Services. Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes.

Personal Skills, Abilities and Attributes

Essential

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including excellent telephone skills. Computer literate. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people across situations Applicants should show evidence of an openness to learning new knowledge and skills.

Full driving licence with use of own transport for business purposes.
