We are recruiting for a Modern Matron Unplanned Care Division- Acute Care group 2 who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
You will be integral to the divisional management team; ensuring nursing input into strategic and operational decisions and providing visible professional leadership to the wards, Discharge lounge and the Unplanned Care Division. This is a pivotal role in our senior management structure to drive forward innovative service change in partnership with the senior team.
You will have day to day professional and managerial responsibility for the wards/departments under your auspices, supporting and providing assurance to the Deputy Divisional Director of Nursing and Divisional Management Team on the delivery of safe, high quality and cost effective care. You will also deputise for the Deputy Divisional Director of Nursing as required.
You will provide expert professional leadership, informed, objective and pragmatic nursing advice to the ward team and the Divisional senior team, ensuring there are robust systems and monitoring in place to support all matters relating to patient care and experience.

Main duties of the jobIn this role you will have line and professional management for the ward managers for medicine as well as the Clinical Nurse Specialist Nurses aligned to that ward specialty. This will include supporting the ward managers with their budgetary responsibilities.
To provide regular updates to the Deputy Divisional Director of Nursing and Divisional Team about the performance of the services covered by this role.
Review workforce requirements with stakeholders and support the recruitment and retention, training and development of staff to create innovative ways to deliver care.
To support plan and manage resources together with line managers in a way which ward managers delivers the best possible healthcare within the available resources.
You will work with key stakeholders actively support the implementation of a Trust wide system for a variety of different areas such as Mental Health Capacity Act,Patient safety benchmarking, Patient experience measures, Productive ward / productive theatre and other areas detailed in the job description.
You will be responsible for will be responsible for the delivery, monitoring and recording of care episodes in line with national and local clinical quality standards for their speciality area, demonstrating compliance and assurance as required by specialist commissioning groups

Person specificationQualifications/TrainingEssential criteria- Registered Nurse.
- Post Graduate level achievement or equivalent experience
- Management qualification or equivalent experience
- Has continued own professional development
- Substantial NHS experience in an acute environment. Demonstrable achievements in improving patient care, being forward thinking and innovative
- Financial management
- Leading development and implementation and evaluation
- Working effectively across professional boundaries
- Line management experience of groups of staffing
- Able to communicate and work effectively and co- operatively with a wide range of people of different backgrounds and viewpoints
- Able to build professional and personal credibility to gain support, express ideas persuasively within a range of settings and environments
- Able to express ideas clearly and succinctly in speech or writing
- Able to demonstrate leadership in others across the Trust and in complex organisational circumstances
- Able to grasp quality issues nationally and locally and achieve implementation of solutions to such issues
- Have an in-depth understanding of nursing and midwifery policy and its implications for the workforce and future health care delivery
