Peer Support Worker

Making a difference in clients lives who struggle with addictions

What will your responsibilities be:

Co-facilitating groups Adhere to policies and procedures Appropriate, empathic and supportive relationships are developed with clients using the service based on shared experience of addiction Understand how peer boundaries work when using mutuality and lived experience knowledge in their work, and that these are different from the clinical workforce A lived experience of addiction and is at least 2 years out of treatment and abstinence from past problem drink/drug use Uphold the values and mission of The Salvation Army Level 4 Health and Wellbeing Certificate Have a willingness to work from a bicultural perspective, having an awareness of the Treaty of Waitangi Ability to work alone but as part of a team Experience in support work Be computer literate Be self-organised Have an ability to relate to people with sensitivity, caring and patience, be tactful, discrete and understand the importance of boundaries and confidentiality Good written and oral communication skills with an ability to write adequate records and reports

Our ideal candidate will:

A lived experience of addiction and is at least 2 years out of treatment and abstinence from past problem drink/drug use Uphold the values and mission of The Salvation Army Level 4 Health and Wellbeing Certificate Have a willingness to work from a bicultural perspective, having an awareness of the Treaty of Waitangi Ability to work alone but as part of a team Experience in support work Be computer literate Be self-organised Have an ability to relate to people with sensitivity, caring and patience, be tactful, discrete and understand the importance of boundaries and confidentiality Good written and oral communication skills with an ability to write adequate records and reports

This role is permanent/full time and hours worked will be 40 per week Monday to Friday

The starting hourly rate for this role will fall between $26 and $29.10
