Flexible on Location: Crawley / Bristol / Reading / Portsmouth

Travel: there will be up to 50% national travel and 25% international travel required at a maximum.

Delivering the role of PDA for AWS UK bids and programmes, you will be working with programme values ranging from study projects to several hundred million pound mission system integration programmes, both domestically and for export. You will be working to define the technical mission system solutions offered at minimum risk from a defined product portfolio covering Combat Management System (TACTICOS), Radar, EO, ESM, guns and missiles in often complex industry teams/consortia involving maritime communications solutions as well as bridge and navigation system integration partners and shipyards/Primes. Key to this is developing Thales offers for TACTICOS based maritime mission systems integrating Radar, EO, effectors and increasingly unscrewed assets into a coherent capability offering integrated with platforms and into defence enterprises in the UK and beyond. Ensuring that the project needs are met and balanced against the needs of the business and product policy, informing product roadmaps, defining and critically reviewing 3rd party offers for products and services, and assuring and documenting the overall coherence of design, implementation, integration and acceptance within the project context.

Working very much in an international context with members of the business line team in UK and NL and industrial partners/shipyards, defining and reducing risk in architectural definitions to support safety and security aspects of product based mission system integration programmes.

About you:

You will have experience in collaborative multi entity international teams, leading complex system solution design activities against UK MOD and export customer requirements, standards and processes. You will have significant experience of solution architectures with a strong underpinning of a product based approach to solution configuration.

You will have strong technical management skills and demonstrated ability to balance functional, performance, non-functional and architectural aspects of a complex maritime mission system design and have a demonstrated track record of successfully presenting complex ideas to customers, partners and colleagues in an international context.

You will have a strong grasp on technical risk and strategies to minimise and mitigate them in a timely yet robust manner. You will have a deep grounding in the management of safety and security risks and have demonstrated ability in working with specialists to reach successful certification outcomes.

Desirable:

Full Lifecycle experience in 100M£+ programmes

Bid experience

Understanding of the regulatory requirements of maritime systems internationally and in the UK specifically

Practical knowledge of uncrewed systems, their management, use and integration into capability

Understanding of Naval command structures

Practical Systems Engineering modelling experience

Ability to travel in Europe and beyond
