Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lung Cancer Service Audit Officer to joining our Lung Cancer Service. We are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, able to accurately input data and confident in the use of technology. The successful candidate will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with excellent organisational and communication skills.

Main duties of the job

The role of Lung Cancer Service Audit Officer involves taking the lead in the coordination, collation and inputting of data in relation to the cancer outcomes and services dataset (COSD) for the lung cancer service. They will monitor, cleanse and validate data stored within NUH systems to maximize submission to mandatory datasets including COSD and national cancer audits, in addition to supporting local audit processes that will inform service development.

Person Specification

Training & Qualifications

Essential

oGood all round education ( 2 GCSEs at equivalent of grade 4 / C or above including English & Maths), or equivalent demonstrable experience in a similar role. oNVQ level 4 in administration or equivalent/qualification or demonstrable experience.

Experience

Essential

oExperience in a role involving analysis, investigation, and resolution of complex statistical/analytical queries oPrevious experience in clinical audit, data entry, or quality role. oHigh level of proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Desirable

oUnderstanding of cancer wait time standards and NOLCP timed pathway milestones.

Communication and relationship skills

Essential

oAbility to develop strong working relationships with colleagues both internal and external to the Trust. oMust be able to clearly and accurately convey information both written and verbally to different audiences including patients, GPs, managers, administration colleagues and clinicians

Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential

oAbility to work to defined policy, procedures, practice and instructions. oAptitude for detail and accurate data entry skills. oAble to use judgement to make decisions in order to solve problems/enquiries whilst understanding limits of responsibility and escalating queries to consultant and management colleagues. oAble to interpret clinical and non-clinical information in order to input accurate information into relevant systems and also to assist with manipulation of the data for audit purposes.

Planning and organisation skills

Essential

oDemonstrates a positive and flexible approach in line with the changing nature of the service delivery model. oDemonstrates excellent organisational/co-ordination/work prioritisation skills and meticulous attention to detail.
