Job overview

A vacancy for a WTE 8a Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist with and interest and experience in neuropsychology has arisen in NELFT’s Adult Neuropsychology Service. The post-holder will be part of an established Neuropsychology Pathway in NELFT which offers specialist neuropsychological assessment, consultation and advice to teams in both health and mental health pathways in the Trust who care for patients with neurological conditions. These teams include local community rehabilitation teams, specialist community neurology nurses, an inpatient stroke rehabilitation ward, Talking Therapies (TT) and mental health and wellbeing (MHWT) pathways. The service covers NELFT’s London boroughs which include Waltham Forest, Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, and parts of Essex.

The main team base is in a purpose-built community health centre (Jane Atkinson Health and Well-Being Centre, Waltham Forest, E17 3HP). Regular input to teams in Goodmayes Hospital, IG3 8XJ, will also be required. Other bases across NELFTs London and Essex boroughs could be used for agile working and some virtual/home working can be accommodated in the role. NELFT is a digitally literate Trust, with laptop and smart phone provision as standard, and the post-holder will have access to Pearson’s Qinteractive for their neuropsychological assessments.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will predominantly be offering neuropsychological assessment and/or advice and consultation and will have access to various leadership opportunities including teaching, training, consultation, research/audit and supervision of trainees and/or Assistant Psychologists.

Supervision would be from a senior Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist and candidates with an interest in commencing or continuing their post-doctoral neuropsychology training towards Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN) entry are actively encouraged to apply and would be supported to undertake this training.

The successful candidate would work closely with a small but skilled team comprised of a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and a Principal Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist. They would also be part of a wider network of psychologists in neuropsychology who work in the Trusts memory services, older adult psychology pathways and stroke services. Attendance at relevant neuropsychology meetings, forums and CPD events is supported.

Working for our organisation

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 pro rata for part time).

Use of AI
