Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Bank Practice Nurse to join our nursing team at our busy, forwardthinking GP Surgeries in Northallerton and our branch surgery in Hutton Rudby.

This position is for bank work- shifts to be arranged with the Nursing Lead as and where needed, occasional Saturday working may be required.

You will be supported bya team of excellent HCAs; in house pharmacy team and good liaison with our GPsand community nursing teams.

Thesuccessful candidate will be a fully qualified registered Nurseideally with experience in primary care.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of the nursing team as bank/reliefcover, providing wound dressings, compression dressings, vaccines and childhoodimmunisations to the practice population ensuring that the highest standard ofcare is afforded to patients at all times both at Mowbray House Surgery andHutton Rudby Surgery.

The post holder would be required to provide cover wherenecessary Monday to Saturday.

Job responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Provide a range ofnursing services, including venepuncture, ECG measurement, blood pressuremeasurement, urinalysis, injections, swabs, health checks, suture removal,wound care

* Assist clinician teamwith minor surgery and coil fittings.

* Chaperone and assistpatients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.

* Monitor QOF targets asrequired and maintain a high standard of achievement.

* Participate in anyrelevant health promotion and screening activities to promote the health andwellbeing of patients.

* Provide nursing inputto any decision making processes affecting the care of the patients.

* Maintain the treatmentroom: this includes ensuring that the room is tidy and clean at all times, thatstock levels are maintained and items are rotated as necessary and maintain andclean any equipment used by the nurses.

* Maintain accuraterecords.

* Monitor the temperatureof the treatment room fridge, ensuring the protocol is followed.

Experience

Essential

Registered Nurse. Wound care/removal of sutures and staples. ECGs. Venepuncture. Chaperone procedure. Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly. Vaccinations Understands the importance of evidence-based practice. Ability to record accurate clinical notes. Ability to work within own scope of practice and to understand when to refer to GPs. Knowledge of health promotion strategies. Understands the requirement for PGDs and associated policy. Excellent communication skills (written and oral). Strong IT skills.
