Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Communications and Relationship skills - (Factor 1)

Maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business in accordance with Trust Policy. To aid Hospital staff, visitors and patients when faced with difficult situations caused by third parties, following Trust policies and procedures. Guide and direct visitors and deal with in a helpful and friendly manner, taking written notes of any relevant information To be able to communicate sensitive information using tact and diplomacy when dealing with deceased’s family and friends. Take a role in any departmental Information Technology initiatives.

Analytical and Judgemental skills - (Factor 3)

Communicate daily with all users regarding any variation in service that may be required. Using judgement to prioritise as necessary in consultation with the Portering and Waste Supervisor. Assess how to safely transport hospital equipment and utilise appropriate manual handling techniques Ability to identify certain pieces of equipment when transferring from Equipment Library to Wards ie. Infusion pumps.
