Animal Welfare Officer

The Animal Welfare Officer is responsible for safeguarding the health and welfare of our pigs by ensuring that each of our farm units meet their legal obligations, preventing the spread of animal disease and complying with welfare standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactive approach to championing best practice Company and legislation Animal Welfare standards within our business
  • Performing general health checks on stock across the units
  • Educate and advise Farm Manager / Growers on Animal Welfare Standards, seeks to improve and maintain the welfare of stock, prevent or alleviate unnecessary suffering.
  • Conduct internal audits/ inspections in adherence to an audit schedule. Ensure any non-conformances, follow up actions are closed off within a timely manner.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate health and welfare records
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and promote the work of the organisation
  • Provide support to the wider Technical Department


Essential:

  • Animal Care/ Animal Welfare Qualification or equivalent
  • Previous experience in handling animals
  • Knowledge of Animal Welfare standards/ legislation
  • Proficient administration skills
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude
  • Full Clean driving licence
