Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated physiotherapist to work in our in-patient Mental Health Services of the Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, providing physiotherapy expertise at our 5 ward hospital in Leigh.

Ideal candidates will be dynamic and forward thinking, work effectively in a wide MDT team, and possess excellent communication skills. The post-holder must be committed to professional development through support, training and supervision, which will be essential due to the evolving nature of this service. You will be HCPC registered and have experience working across a broad range of health settings in a range of specialities. Experience working in older adult care with an interest in the mental health field is beneficial.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of The Therapy Team at Atherleigh Park and this comprises of Activity Co-ordinators, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists and Therapy Assistants. You will supervise a Band 5 Physiotherapist and support staff.

You will provide assessment, treatment planning and provision for patients who have complex physical and psychological needs. This is includes the areas of MSK, falls / frailty management, long term conditions, physical activity/exercise and neurological conditions in a mental health setting. There is a strong health promotion ethos, with a great emphasis on improving our patient's physical health.

We are committed to supporting Allied Health Professionals working in this area and additional training and development via our appraisal process will be provided. If you have a specialist interest we would be happy to discuss developing this; frailty, pain management, mental health and co-morbid physical health conditions have been developed in this post. You will be supported through regular management supervision, good professional supervision through the Trusts Physiotherapy network and an excellent Trust training & development program and regular opportunities to engage in CPD activity.
