SAVE THE CHILDREN INTERNACIONAL (SCI), a non-profit humanitarian organization with focus on child well-being, is recruiting candidates for the position mentioned below:

Director – LINK Project (Maputo)

The LINK Director will lead a transformative five-year, $25 million Green Climate Fund (GCF) initiative aimed at transforming the lives of 400,000 drought-affected individuals in Tete, Manica, and Gaza. This role involves strategic oversight of integrating climate adaptation into social protection, enhancing Mozambique's Adaptive Social Protection framework. The LINK Director will spearhead this transformative journey, offering strategic leadership and visionary direction to ensure that every facet of the project not only aligns with, but also amplifies our ambitious objectives. The LINK Director will be a strong leader in driving innovation, genuine collaborations, and effective execution of project initiatives across three provinces to achieve impactful and sustainable results. This role is ideal for those passionate about climate action and ready to lead a project that makes a real difference. It offers an opportunity to shape the government's Adaptive Social Protection framework and make a significant impact at Save the Children.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as international development, environmental science, or a related field (Masters’ degree preferred). Certification in Project Management (PMD-Pro, PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) is highly desirable.

Experience and Skills

Essential

Experience working with international donors such as the Global Climate Fund (GCF), World Bank, or USAID. At least 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in the field of climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, or community development.  Knowledge of climate change policy frameworks and international agreements (e.g., Paris Agreement, UNFCCC) is an asset. Proven track record in managing multi-cultural teams and working in diverse cultural settings.  Strong leadership skills with experience in managing complex projects or programs, ideally in the field of climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction.  Excellent understanding of climate change adaptation concepts and strategies, preferably with experience working in the field of climate change adaptation in Mozambique or similar contexts.  Strong written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills in English and Portuguese are expected, considering the coordination with representatives of the Mozambican government.  Experience with the district planning process, especially on the channelling of investment to adaptation investments to attend the specific needs of the most vulnerable.

Desirable 

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.  Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with a proven ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders. Ability to synthesize and analyses information, and make clear, informed decisions.  Ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally  Strong planning, management, and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks, and responsibilities.

O Director do projecto LINK liderará uma iniciativa transformadora financiada pelo Green Climate Fund (GCF) que tem a duração de 05 anos, com o valor de 25 milhões de dólares, que visa transformar as vidas de 400.000 indivíduos afectados pela seca em Tete, Manica e Gaza. Esta função envolve a supervisão estratégica da integração de investimentos de adaptação climática em programas de protecção social, melhorando a capacidade adaptativa dos agregados familiares mais vulneráveis em Mocambique. O Director do projecto LINK liderará esta jornada transformadora, oferecendo liderança estratégica e direcção visionária para garantir que todas as facetas do projeto não apenas se alinhem, mas também amplifiquem nossos ambiciosos objetivos. O Director do projecto LINK será um forte líder na promoção da inovação, colaborações genuínas e execução eficaz de iniciativas de projectos em três províncias, para alcançar resultados impactantes e sustentáveis. Qualificações 

Nível académico de Bacharelato em áreas relevantes como Desenvolvimento Internacional, Ciência do Ambiente ou área equivalente (Nível de Mestrado será preferencial). Certificação em Gestão de Projectos (PMD-Pro, PMP, PRINCE2, ou equivalente) é vantajoso.

Experiência e Habilidades

Essencial

Experiência de trabalho com doadores internacionais, como o Global Climate Fund (GCF), Banco Mundial ou USAID. Pelo menos 5 anos de experiência em gestão de projectos, de preferência na área de adaptação às alterações climáticas, redução do risco de desastres ou desenvolvimento comunitário. O conhecimento dos quadros políticos sobre alterações climáticas e dos acordos internacionais (por exemplo, Acordo de Paris, UNFCCC) é uma vantagem. Histórico comprovado na gestão de equipas multiculturais e no trabalho em diversos ambientes culturais. Fortes capacidades de liderança com experiência na gestão de projectos ou programas complexos, idealmente no domínio da adaptação às alterações climáticas e redução do risco de catástrofes. Excelente compreensão dos conceitos e estratégias de adaptação às alterações climáticas, de preferência com experiência de trabalho na área de adaptação às alterações climáticas em Moçambique ou contextos semelhantes. Forte comunicação escrita e falada em inglês e português, bem como forte habilidades de interacção, considerando a coordenação com representantes do governo moçambicano. Experiência com o processo de planeamento distrital, especialmente na canalização de investimentos, para investimentos de adaptação com o objectivo de atender às necessidades específicas dos mais vulneráveis.

Desejável

Fortes habilidades analíticas e de resolução de problemas, com capacidade de adaptação às mudanças nos requisitos e prioridades do projecto. Excelentes habilidades de negociação e resolução de conflitos, com capacidade comprovada de construir consenso entre diversas partes interessadas. Capacidade de sintetizar e analisar informações e tomar decisões claras e objectivas. Capacidade de construir relacionamentos com uma ampla gama de pessoas, tanto interna quanto externamente. Fortes habilidades de planeamento, gestão e coordenação, com capacidade de organizar uma carga de trabalho substancial composta por tarefas e responsabilidades complexas e diversas.
