An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced audiologist to join the Adult Audiology team at Whipps Cross. This post is a full time, fixed term position for 12 months to cover maternity leave.

We are seeking a highly experienced, enthusiastic and committed clinician to provide specialist clinical care in our diverse population across Waltham Forest and Redbridge. You must be able to demonstrate excellent team working and leadership qualities as well as a high level of clinical and communication skills. You will need to be able to develop good working relationships at all levels and liaise effectively with a wide range of clinicians and managers, as well as patients and families. 

Applicants must be state registered with HCPC as a Clinical Scientist of with the RCCP as an Audiologist or Hearing Therapist. Evidence of clinical supervision of trainees and continuing professional development is also required. 

Main duties of the job

To perform specialist diagnostic audio-vestibular procedures and provide a comprehensive specialist hearing aid and rehabilitation service at acute and community sites, including domiciliary work if appropriate. To determine care plans for individual patients, and involve carers and families as appropriate. 

To participate in the development of Waltham Forest and Redbridge adult audiology services in line with DoH proposals supporting the audiology management team. This may include providing triage or wax removal services for example, with appropriate training and support.

To support the Audiology Service Manager in the operational management, and day-to-day running of Audiology services (mainly adults) at Whipps Cross Hospital, including the supervision of audiologists and assistants.

Essential criteria

Qualified audiologist/audiological scientist (Btec MPPM plus BAAT parts I and II or MSc Audiological science plus CAC) Completion of advanced courses in Audiology Evidence of CPD Registered with either the HPC (as a clinical scientist (Audiology) or RCCP 9as an Audiologist)

Desirable criteria

British Sign Language, Deaf Awareness Qualifications Membership of BAA and/or BSA

Minimum of 3 years audiological experience post qualification Experience in a supervisory role

Desirable criteria

Responsibility for various areas of specialty within Audiology and/or general administration To lead and develop designated areas of responsibility
