ISS is growing The Climate and Nature Innovation Lab of ISS ESG is seeking a specialist to join and lead its new Nature Modelling Team. Successful candidates will have a strong background in quantitative analysis and exhibit a passion for the responsible investment business with a focus on climate change and nature related risk and impact areas.

The Climate and Nature Innovation Lab is responsible for maintaining and developing new models underpinning ISS ESG’s Climate & Nature Solutions, such as Physical and Transitional Value at Risk tools and the Biodiversity Impact Assessment Tool. As the Nature Modelling lead, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing Nature related quantitative models and collaborate across teams to foster product development and innovation in this space. You will also closely monitor soft and hard regulatory initiatives related to Climate Change and Nature.

In this role, you will interact with colleagues and clients from around the globe. Candidates should have a collaborative approach to work, and a track record of project management and problem-solving while working with close attention to detail in a dynamic workplace. There is a special emphasis on fostering high-quality innovation in a fast-paced environment, efficient knowledge sharing, and teamwork across the organization.

Your role in helping us shape the future

Drive the model development and enhancement for nature and biodiversity of ISS ESG’s Climate and Nature Solutions.

Contribute to product development related to nature, biodiversity and climate change leveraging quantitative models.

Identify opportunities and find creative approaches to enhance the product portfolio for financial institutions.

Join client-facing conversations in an expert capacity.

Foster talent within the team, with ability to contribute towards a productive and inspiring work environment.

Monitor global regulatory movements around nature and biodiversity to inform solution development.

What you bring to ISS

A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience relating to quantitative modelling of climate and nature related impacts or risk areas at either a financial institution, financial service provider, or within a corporate environment.

Advanced university degree ideally in environmental science, engineering, economics, quantitative finance or equivalent.

Specific knowledge in Life cycle assessment, Input/Output models, supply chain and nature/biodiversity modelling techniques.

Solid quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, familiarity with large data sets, and excellent conceptual thinking aptitude

Specific knowledge of the sustainable finance sector and climate and nature regulatory and reporting impacting financial institutions, such as, PCAF, TNFD, CSRD & EU Taxonomy, France’s Art 29, etc..

Experience with IAMs (integrated assessment models), macroeconomic modelling or financial analysis.

Quantitative risk management experience would be a plus.

Excellent command of Python and SQL and good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications

Excellent oral and written command of English; additional languages are a plus.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with customer-first attitude.

Willingness to work with a highly collaborative, flexible, and innovative team across different locations.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, to prioritize tasks, and to meet deadlines.
