The Virginia Department ofTransportation (VDOT) Information Technology Division (ITD) isseeking an enterprise/platform architect to join the VDOTEnterprise Architecture team. This individual will work with keymembers to balance and prioritize current operational demandsdisruptions and opportunities with the longerterm strategic visionof the organization. Furthermore the enterprise/platform architectprovides technology guidance road maps principles standards andbest practices.

Position duties:

• Provides direction guidance and definition of IT Platformarchitecture to effectively support VDOTs IT and business strategy.Supports all architectural disciplines and champions architecturalinitiatives.
• Reviews existing businessprocesses and establishes metrics to improve business processes aswell as support of all architectural disciplines under theirdirection.
• Works on highly complex projectsthat require indepth knowledge across multiple specializedarchitecture domains.
• Aligns architecturestrategy with business goals.
• Defines explainsand advocates technology strategy.
• Developsand communicates architectural policies standards guidelines andprocedures.
• Promotes the EA process outcomesand results to the organization and senior leadership.
• Reviews and/or analyzes and develops architecturalrequirements as needed for the organization.
• Ensures the conceptual completeness of the technicalsolutions.
• Leads teams in developingtechnology plans.
• Consults with project teamsto fit projects to enterprise architecture as well as to identifywhen it is necessary to modify the enterprisearchitecture.
• Ensures recommendations arebased on business relevance appropriate timing anddeployment.
• Collaborates with projectmanagement and IT leaders to ensure progress towards architecturalalignment with project goals and requirements.

Qualification:

• Preferred experience includes Esris GIS toolsand platform.
• Document the data architectureand environment in order to maintain a current and accurate view ofthe larger data picture.
• Strong understandingof relational data structures theories principles andpractices.
• Strong familiarity with meta datamanagement and associated processes. Handson knowledge ofenterprise repository tools data modeling tools data mapping toolsand data profiling tools.
