South West climate action charitable CBS, the Eco Centre, is seeking to appoint board members to help step up its plans for a regional sustainability centre, events programme and innovative outreach project - helping people and communities live more sustainably.

We’re looking for experience and skilled people to actively help with the day-to-day running of the organisation and projects, as well as provide the leadership and vision to drive forward the next three years of growth & development.

We are currently recruiting for two board members to cover the following specialisms:

  • Volunteer Recruitment & Management – Experience of volunteer recruitment & management including developing programmes and support systems/provision. Experience of working with volunteers at levels including at the neighbourhood level, working with deprived or marginalised communities would be an advantage.Community Outreach Manager - to manage and assist community outreach workers and volunteers, and manage the programme. Experience of community development or engagement is essential (preferably including with deprived or excluded communities) as is the ability to develop local partnerships and programmes.

 

 

The overlap in the roles for these specialisms may mean that successful candidates would be able to shape the roles accordingly.

As elements of these roles will require some work in our current pilot project area, being within easy travelling distance of Taunton and Bridgwater would be an advantage.

It is essential that you:
  • have time to commit to monthly (online) board meetings, lead on your area of special, and contribute to the overall running of the organisation - at least 6-8 hours per month
  • are able to work as part of a team
  • have a commitment to action on climate change and environmental sustainability   

Preferably you will:

  • live or work in the South West
  • be able to help out occasionally at events and activities in the region
