Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities

Managementand Leadership

Provide leadership for clinical/administrativestaff at all levels, regarding digital and clinical workflow to ensuresuccessful implementation of technology that benefits patient care and achievesexpected outcomes.

Work collaboratively with Digital, InformationTechnology and operational leaders to assess new informatics technologyopportunities that impact/improve clinical documentation, workflow efficiencyand patient safety.

Work with digitalservices, leading on operational activities identified in the project plan tomanage and implement defined projects targets, notifying the project managerwhen issues or problems occur. This willinvolve initiating, planning, and organising work packages.

Develop effectivecommunication with Nurses, Allied Health Professionals and other healthcareprofessionals to foster a good understanding of clinical informatics systemsand the roles and responsibilities of staff who use them.

Work incollaboration with Clinical systems Super-Users, Data Quality and RecordKeeping Leads across clinical services.

Digital Projects and Systems

Takepart in testing relevant software applications, document the results, andhighlight any concerns that may relate to nursing use. Use clinical experienceand judgement to determine the importance of any system deficiencies foundduring testing.

Workwith IT and Information colleagues to develop a sound knowledge of NHS datasetsand the methods of recording within clinical systems.

Carryout audit work related to clinical informatics/digital systems. Audits tosupport improved record keeping and quality and safety.

Assistclinical leads in analysing new local, regional, and national initiatives andimperatives, and other standards relevant to clinical informatics systems andidentify responses to them. Share these proposals with senior staff in digitalservice and other key stakeholder groups.

Representthe Trust at local, regional, and National meetings and networks relevant toclinical informatics/ digital agenda. Use these networks to share best practiceand to bring information and new ideas back to Key stakeholder groups.

Be anambassador for Digital Services and the role of clinical informatics whencoming into contact with key senior stakeholders within the Trust, and withexternal agencies, organisations, and official bodies; in accordance with theTrusts Modernisation agenda through the digital strategy.

Horizon scan for digitalprojects and new technologies to support improvement in patient care.

Work with partneragencies to support joint pathways for care which are enhanced by digitaltechnologies.

Theremay be a requirement for some occasional weekend, out of hours and on callwork, particularly during the implementation phase of clinical Digital projects.

Education and Training

Deliverpresentations, and demonstrate the product to all levels of clinical,administrative, and managerial staff in a manner that is appropriate for theaudience.

Deliverone to one training on clinical Digital projects being implemented to staff ofall levels including clinicians and management.

Supportin the preparation of user guides and training materials and provide input intothe structure of training sessions.

Supportthe planning, developing, refining and evaluation of clinical documentationsystems and training programs.

ClinicalProfessional Practice
