Are you a compassionate and caring individual with a passion for helping young people achieve their goals? Are you looking for a fulfilling, varied role where you can make a real difference in the lives of young people with diverse needs?
We are looking for friendly, supportive individuals with experience working with those who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We support a wonderful registered charity whose mission is to ensure young adults with learning disabilities, mental health challenges or physical disabilities have the opportunity to live life to the fullest. The provision is a specialist, community-based college offering person-centred education across Devon. They support people aged 16 - 25 who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience working with individuals with SEND. You should be patient, enthusiastic and able to use your creativity and initiative to tailor educational content and work experience that are accessible to students.
Ideal candidate:
- Skilled in supporting the development of independence and community access for students
- Understanding of positive behaviour support and complex behavioural needs
- Experience working with individuals with complex learning disabilities, high support needs, personal care and epilepsy
- Flexible and willing to travel with students across the community
This role offers an excellent opportunity for those looking to advance their skills and experience in teaching and learning, especially with young people who have challenging behaviours.
What to expect:
As part of this role, you’ll work with young adults, helping them to develop life skills in various community settings. This will require flexibility, as you’ll travel with students to learning hubs, libraries, workplaces and leisure facilities. You’ll assess their progress, provide accredited learning, and support personalised curriculum delivery designed to meet their individual needs.
If you’re passionate about empowering young people and want to make a positive impact, we would love to hear from you
