Job summary
Are you an experienced Children's Nurse looking for a new challenge? We are looking to recruit to our Children's Community Nursing service where you will join an established supportive team here in Cornwall.
Due to service expansion and a future move to a 7 day working pattern, we are excited to be in a position to have a developmental Band 5 to Band 6 Children's Community Nurse vacancy available, covering predominantly West Cornwall but with work across Cornwall required.
This is a permanent contract for hrs currently divided over 4 days per week, to meet service need. We will consider part time working at 30 hours/week, which can be discussed at interview.
This role includes weekend and bank holiday working and occasional on call requirement for End of Life care.
This is a community-based role that requires frequent travel to various locations throughout the county including areas that may not be accessible by public transportation.
Main duties of the job
You will have current experience in looking after acutely unwell children. You must be highly motivated and possess excellent acute clinical assessment skills and are able to communicate and organise effectively. You must be experienced in working under pressure and have the ability to work require your skills & enthusiasm to develop our strategy in supporting unnecessary hospital admissions and reduce length of stay by facilitating early and safe discharge from the acute trust as well as supporting children and young people with long term or palliative conditions. You will hold your own caseload, taking responsibility for planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating care given.

Experience of teaching or training families and professionals

Post registration experience of caring for children with health needs, such as tracheostomies, enteral feeding, medication administration, oxygen therapy and wound management. Experience of advising families and professionals regarding a child or young persons condition and care needs.

Previous experience in a community setting Experience of working within an acute paediatric setting Experience of coordinating and or managing patient care.
Knowledge and abilities
