Job summary

Hospitality provides event services across all sites of the Trust and outside catering to venues across London. The post holder will join a dynamic and skilled team, with the ability to build on the strengths of the current team, yet flexible to adapt to the future changes to ensure the needs and objectives of both the department and the Trust are met.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of hospitality services across the St Thomas's and Guy's hospital sites. They will be accountable for financial budgets and will be responsible for delivering set objectives within the designated business plan. They will ensure that resources and standards allocated to the team are properly and effectively deployed to deliver agreed outputs determined by key performance indicators.

The post holder will also be responsible for the on-going development of the hospitality services to ensure that income and profitability targets are achieved and the Trust maintains its excellent reputation for the provision of conference and hospitality services.

Department Information

Key Relationships

The post holder is required to develop close working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. The needs and expectations of a diverse range of stakeholders will often conflict and will require developed skills in persuasion, negotiation and an ability to explain complex technical processes and subjects in terms which are intelligible

Duties and Responsibilities

Performance Management

The organisation and delivery of hospitality services to be carried out within the Trusts premises and any other site as necessary on an ad-hoc basis. Maintaining a hospitality and room booking service and responding to all enquiries via telephone or email regarding hospitality bookings. Discussing clients requirements, confirming these in writing and communicating precise instructions of expectations to catering management and other disciplines involved. To be responsible for the development, monitoring and production of key performance indicators and benchmarks of performance. Ensure that the procedures and systems within the department meet all statutory requirements

Financial

Responsible for ensuring all accounts and invoices are raised within appropriate time frames with accurate detail. Development of an annual marketing and promotion programme to further increase income and business development. To be responsible for all food and liquor stock controls and also any cash takings associated with bars and cash events. Take responsibility for all planning and budgeting of manpower for the hospitality team within the designated areas. Ensuring appropriate policies are in place regarding procedure for cash handling and banking, as appropriate and consistent with Trusts policies. To attend monthly reviews with line manager on financial and operational performance. Develop and gain agreement for business plans, aimed at achieving target activity within the constraints of budget provisions and quality standards.

Be responsible for financial performance against agreed budgets and be able to be able to demonstrate the cost-effective delivery of the services. Where appropriate, develop financial performance action plans to achieve cost efficiency and cost improvement.

Responsible for the budgetary control of labour, materials, food provisions and income. Continuingly review the Departments performance and strive to improve efficiency and service delivery to reduce the revenue cost base for Hospitality Services. Person Specification

Qualifications/Education

Essential

Hospitality management degree or equivalent A relevant management qualification

Desirable

Advanced food hygiene certification level 3

Experience

Essential

Substantial experience within a large hospitality environment Managing a large team of 20+ staff Management of budgets and profit and loss accounting Demonstrate experience in motivating, developing and leading a team Experience in managing high profile events

Desirable

Management experience working within the NHS

Skills/Knowledge

Essential

Strong interpersonal and people management skills Robust management skills in communication, team working and negotiation Ability to manage time and and meet deadlines and objectives Stakeholder engagement and influencing skills at all levels Ability to prioritise workload and adapt to changing demands and requirements Ability to motivate a team in a rapidly changing environmant Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications
