This is an exciting time to join the PRUH with a new cutting edge IR suite, two new CT scanners and a new MRI scanner recently installed.

Applications are welcomed from radiographers with demonstrable post-graduate experience in X-ray, theatre imaging and fluoroscopy. Previous experience in CT, MRI, Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Catheter Labs would be an advantage though there are opportunities to train in all of these modalities. The department is planning to offer an out of hours MRI service in the future so successful candidates will also be able to gain MRI training in the future.

The Radiology department at Princess Royal University Hospital provides imaging services across a wide range of specialties including trauma, neuro, urology, cardiology and cancer care. There is a diverse and interesting workload and successful candidates will have many opportunities to develop their clinical experience. The department recently performed the UK's first Thyroid ablation using the hospital's new IR suite.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Radiographer you would be expected able to assess and treat own workload of patients/clients and to ensure provision of the highest standards of patient care. Including the legal documentation on the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS) associated with each completed patient episode.

You will provide timely, efficient and courteous provision of radiographic services to the agreed standards of the department taking account of the patient/clients clinical, physical and cultural needs.

You will rotate through CT, Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Catheter Labs once trained.

You will be able to be the lead in the department, consulting senior staff as and when necessary, and will be accountable for your own professional actions. You will work as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.

The department hosts undergraduate radiographers on clinical placement and you will be expected to be actively involved in the training and supervision of apprentice radiographers and students, whilst supporting the wider team. All candidates must be enthusiastic about teaching and supporting learners in the clinical environment.
