What you'll do
You will be involved in developing and delivering specific category plans and commercial strategies that ensure fit-for-purpose and sustainable sourcing and supply chains across the Sainsbury's Group. You will lead complex commercial activities, participate in cross-functional teams, and negotiate and manage contracts with key suppliers. Additionally, you will build and maintain successful relationships with senior stakeholders, acting as a business partner and providing valuable insights and perspectives to support challenging commercial strategies. Leading and managing a team of procurement professionals, you will coach and motivate them to achieve their objectives and contribute to the advancement of the Procurement and Supplier Management function. Overall, your role will be crucial in delivering value for Sainsbury's through effective category management and ensuring compliance with procurement policies and risk management practises.
Who you are
You are an accomplished procurement professional with extensive experience in developing and executing commercial strategies within the Property, Construction, or Facilities Management sectors. With your deep understanding of external supply markets and emerging trends, you possess the knowledge to drive continuous improvement and deliver value for the organisation. Your excellent stakeholder management skills allow you to build strong relationships with senior management, challenging and advising on commercial strategies to optimise cost and quality. As a leader, you excel in motivating and guiding cross-functional teams, leveraging your expertise in contract law, negotiation, and third-party relationship management to ensure successful execution of complex sourcing projects. With your critical thinking abilities and ability to prioritise conflicting programmes, you play a key role in shaping the procurement function and driving its advancement within the organisation.
Whilst this role is advertised as fixed term for 12 months, there is potential for it to become permanent.

You'll also be able to share in our success as you may be eligible for a performance-related bonus of up to 65% of salary, depending on how we perform (in cash and shares).

We also offer other benefits that will help your money go further such as season ticket loans, cycle to work scheme, health cash plans, salary advance (where you can access some of your pay before pay day) as well access to a great range of discounts from hundreds of other retailers. You'll also receive a company car cash allowance unless you are going to travel 10,000 business miles in your role, then you'll be able to choose a car. And if you ever need it there is also an employee assistance programme.
