Laboratory Student Placement in the Antimicrobial Resistance, Omics and Microbiota

This is a 40 week fixed term student placement opportunity.
Please note that this role is only open to NTU students. Applications from those not a current student at NTU will not be considered.
About the RoleAn opportunity has arisen for an NTU student to undertake a placement (starting September or October 2024) within the Antimicrobial Resistance, Omics and Microbiota (AROM) research group that belongs to the Centre for Systems Health and integrated Metabolic Research (SHiMR) based on the Clifton campus. The placement is to work on a research project investigating the application of synthetic biology for the treatment of drug-resistant Klebsiella spp. infections. The role may involve, for example, bioinformatics (BLAST database building, sequence alignments, sequence to structure predictions), working in a biological safety level 2 laboratory, routine microbiology work, molecular microbiology work (PCR, cloning etc), protein expression and purification. In addition, the successful candidate will develop presentation skills by sharing work with peers at regular research group meetings.
