We have an exciting opportunity for a Regulation Policy Lead based in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

A quick look at the role.

The role will be full time with hybrid working, typically a few days a week in Stratford Upon Avon office the other three to four from home.

The role within the department of Regulation & Policy Lead is to be the subject matter expert for the department bringing an In-depth knowledge of existing legislation and emerging environmental legislation under the producer responsibility and EPR regimes, manage the Environment Agency scheme submission template. To provide technical guidance, support & policy advise to internal and external stakeholders.

The Regulation & Policy lead will be responsible for all technical aspects and queries, ensuring all necessary information is kept updated and communicated to the necessary stakeholders. They will work closely with the Sourcing Manager in terms of obligation management, operations manager in terms of key deadlines, and finally the commercial manager in terms of customers and services.

The role will include preparing reports on environmental policy issues and maintaining awareness of new developments, along with working with the scheme operations manager to make sure of compliance with the regulatory requirement and in-house ISO standards.

Regulation & Policy

Subject matter expert for Packaging, WEEE & Battery Producer Responsibility Manage team of Compliance Managers Provide an in-depth knowledge of existing legislation and emerging environmental legislation Horizon scanning for emerging legislation, providing regular updates to General Manager Monitor the scheme processes to ensure compliance with the regulations Represent the compliance schemes for government consultations & policy meetings Communicate consultations to members and compile their responses Provide in depth team training on new regulations and on a continuous basis Provide policy/regulatory advice to the team, Biffa colleagues, members and Biffa customers Set up training matrix, training documentation and ensure this is achieved working with Manage the EA submission template for the schemes; initial registration and any resubmissions. Monitor obligations and work with the sourcing manager and operations manger Represent the compliance schemes at trade associations meetings (PSF/ICER)

General

Maintain relationships with Key Clients through proactive account management Fully support during busy periods – member submissions etc. Promote other services across membership. Monitor compliance with all QA procedures A champion of Biffa and company values Presentations at meetings and events

Requirements

Excellent knowledge of the Producer Responsibility Regulations and its practical application. Experience dealing with the Environment Agency and the procedures Degree level qualification. Strong Excel skills and able to work with large data files Sound knowledge of other office applications. The ability to review and interpretate legislation and to meet deadlines High level of numeracy and literacy Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate at all levels
