Job summary

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board maternity services is currently seeking a Band 5 RGN to join our busy team at The Grange University Hospital.

At Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, we are an evolving service offering care to women and birthing people in a new state of the art purpose built hospital.

We have all our acute services based at the Grange university Hospital, offering single rooms for all women/ birth people for antenatal, birth and postnatal care. In this acute setting we also have a very successful, tranquil along side birth centre averaging approximately 70-80 births per month, offering choice and meeting the needs of both Obstetric led and Midwifery led women/birth people and their families. In addition there are midwife led birthing areas at Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr.

This is a very exciting skilled post and will provide you with the opportunity to support key services in the maternity unit and to ensure high quality, safe care for women during their pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.

Main duties of the job

To assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient care using an agreed patient pathway.

To act as a patient advocate through the application of ethical, legal and professional knowledge and skills

To work within agreed policies and procedures

Participate in relevant data collection for internal audit and clinical trials

To liaise and communicate with members of the multi-disciplinary team in the planning and delivery of patient care.

To maintain accurate records / standards for documentation

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job responsibilities

To support the senior midwifery staff with the running of the Labour Ward Theatres, Obstetric High Dependency Unit and the Obstetric Post Operative Support Ward on a shift by shift basis.

To be responsible for the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.

To develop an understanding of the requirements of the Strategic Vision for the Maternity Services in Wales
