Our development programme consists of five modules and runs in parallel to your permanent job. The modules are designed to bring out your interpersonal and leadership skills, and complement the hands-on technical experience that you will gain in your role.

We will also fully fund your academic qualification, the qualification you are enrolled on will be tailored to the role you will be doing, your academic level and personal ambitions. (We offer apprenticeships as well as other qualifications at various levels).

What you will be doing:

You will be enrolled onto an apprenticeship course in this field, to suit your current educational level. We can offer apprenticeships from a level to a degree level apprenticeship fully funded by Galliford Try. The course level will be discussed with you at interview stage and will be confirmed at offer. At the end of the programme, you will gain a qualification in this field as well as learning the practical skills for the role throughout.

Alongside this, you will join us as part of our Trainee Development Programme, where you will be given the training and tools to develop your skills through a series of modules over a year period followed by a graduation event.

As an Apprentice Planner, you will assist with providing construction planning support to a small number of live/onsite projects and as experience is gained, the job requirements will increase to include planning support for projects in the pre-construction/tender stage.

Gain an understanding of Project management, Logistics and Sequencing Ascertain and report progress on live projects, utilising Asta Powerproject and associated SiteProgress mobile app Update trackers and trial the introduction of new software, where appropriate Assist with tender/pre-construction programmes, managing enquiries for temporary services, fencing, security etc Interpreting programmes and creating phasing drawings (in Microsoft Powerpoint) including logistics/constraints/plant/access etc Visit sites to ascertain conditions and constraints to be taken into account when preparing tender programmes and method statements Liaise with internal and external key stakeholders and third parties to establish optimum, compliant programmes Collate/Assist/Support in the production of As-Built records Assist with the production of clear and concise statements describing the programme strategy and construction methodology Develop an understanding of Preliminaries Assessment Become familiar with the Galliford Try BMS and Information Management systems

This is a full time, permanent role that for projects across the East Midlands and East of England and it is currently expected that a significant volume of work will be in and around Cambridgeshire from early for a period of – years.
