Job Description

Please note this is a one year fixed term contract, working 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 7.5 hour shifts between 07:00 - 23:00.

Due to the growth of our business in the UK, we have an exciting opportunity for laboratory technician to be part of our growing laboratory team based in Milton Keynes.

Sample reception and organising sample delivery.  Operating automated and semi-automated laboratory procedures on various instruments, including Multiflo, Tecan and Hamilton.  Performing entry quality control checks of incoming samples.  Working with the Team Leader to achieve daily targets, ensuring client turnaround time is met and seeking advice as required. Performing regular laboratory housekeeping duties and consumables replenishment. Working with the team on continuous improvement initiatives. Report any anomalies or concerns direct to the Team Leader. Ensure customer contact is conducted in a professional manner and any queries are dealt with or notified to your line leader. Uphold and maintain customer and company confidentiality. Comply with Health and Safety procedures keeping the working environment clean and tidy. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of laboratory quality system in order to comply with the policies, procedures and associated documents. Excellent IT knowledge and experience.  GCSE qualifications, or equivalent.  Basic knowledge of molecular biology and first hands on molecular biological experience will be an advantage.  NGS experience desirable.  Eagerness to learn.  Good command of written and spoken English is essential.  High sense of quality, flexibility, team spirit as well as being able to work independently and very reliable way of working. Flexibility and willingness for shift work.
