Job summary – What to expect: 

We have an exciting 6-month secondment opportunity to join the R&D team as a Chemistry Technician. The primary purpose of this role is to assist in the completion of R&D programs and projects undertaking trial activities which will involve hands-on work in laboratory and clean room environments working with other R&D team members. Specific responsibilities include:

Material testing ofcontact lenses. Preparation and testing of solutions. Preparation of monomer. Metrology measurement of contact lenses Recording and presenting data accurately and reliably with clear written presentation. Working in a team environment. Co-operating with other departments during projects to ensure project goals are achieved. Following SOPs and WI’s Upkeep of equipment Ordering of supplies

About you:

We are looking for someone who has:

1-2 years’ experience in a laboratory or high volume manufacturing environment at Technician/Operator Level Contact lens laboratory or manufacturing experience is preferable. Basic knowledge of word and excel, intermediate preferred Follow SOP’s and WI’s accurately Literate and numerate Good communication skills

Desirable:

Monomer preparation Solution preparation pH and osmolality testing Contact lens material testing eg RI, water content, mechanical properties, contact angle Contact lens metrology measurements eg inspection, diameter, base curve, power, sectioning Extraction and Hydration techniques
