Job summary – What to expect: 

As the R&D technician of our R&D Team, you will support completion of R&D programs and projects, taking ownership and responsibility for elements of trials and project work. You will have a good understanding and knowledge of contact lens manufacturing processes and must comply with quality assurance and safety practices in their day to day work. They must also help to generate and execute protocols, gather data and summarise results. 

Essential responsibilities: 

Perform trials using various pieces of contact lens manufacturing or fabrication equipment and materials  Manufacture contact lenses for clinical evaluation  Use metrology equipment to measure and analyse contact lenses Support the release and shipment of product for invitro and clinical studies Input into structure and writing of trial protocols and validations  Recording and presenting data accurately  Analysing data Writing documentation to support regulatory compliance, work instructions or SOP’s for example Support manufacturing by providing lens processing resource or specialist techniques or methods  To assist with the introduction of new equipment and products to production including initial set-up and assistance during the development phase. To co-operate with other departments during projects to ensure the project goals are achieved.

About you:

We are looking for someone who has good written and verbal communication skills and demonstrates good knowledge of MS office and basic data presentation and analysis but specifically:

Experience & Education:

Experience within a high or medium volume manufacturing environment as a Process Technician / Operator level. Contact lens manufacturing experience is preferable ideally with: Mould metrology Lens Metrology Wet Centre Thickness measurement Lens sectioning Lens water content measurement Lens contact angle measurement Focimetry Tensile testing Lens Inspection Monomer/materials preparation Injection Moulding Demoulding techniques Extraction and Hydration techniques Blister sealing techniques Sterilisation techniques Use of equipment and automation Literate and numerate
