Job summary

The post holder will be required to become a skilled highly knowledgeable and competent practitioner in the overall assessment and management in the transfer of the critically ill child.

The successful applicant will be employed in a training position working to achieve a master's programme in Advanced Clinical Practice both clinically and academically.

They will work alongside their Medical and ACP supervisors to gain skills and competencies in physical assessment and diagnosis.

Main duties of the job

To provide direct expert advanced clinical care through health assessment, initiation of treatment, formulation and alteration of treatment and monitoring of care programmes To provide effective leadership, expertise, advice and support to a team/ department and ensure the provision of high-quality care to children and families To expand and promote the role of the ACP to underpin the overall care of these patients To act as a designated resource to children and families, and other professionals caring for them To facilitate the development of all team members To promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice

Academic/Professional qualification/Training

Essential

Current registration with a professional body recognised as able to undertake advanced clinical practice training at a Higher Institute of Education Minimum of 5 years qualified & relevant clinical Experience in paediatric critical care Minimum of honours degree recognised at a Higher Education Institution or evidence of master's level study Registered qualification as a non -medical prescriber (independent prescriber) or willing to work towards actively practicing Assessing and mentoring qualification Evidence of ongoing, dynamic, CPD, with demonstrable clinical competencies, in paediatric critical care

Desirable

EPLS / APLS qualification Teaching Qualification Attendance on a clinical leadership program

Experience/Knowledge

Essential

Evidence of working with children / young people and families to improve patient experience Experience in a relevant children's healthcare environment Knowledge relevant to the specialty/ department / field of practice Knowledge of professional and current issues in children's healthcare. Experience of taking charge of a department and of leading and managing a clinical team

Desirable

Understanding of change management, audit and research methodologies Experience of developing practice standards, clinical audit, benchmarking and clinical / quality improvement Experience of utilising and participating in research and audit Experience of handling clinical incidents and complaints and implementation of subsequent learning
