Berkshire CAMHS are excited to be recruiting a qualified Child Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) in the established Getting Help Team (GHT) in Bracknell. Alongside the Mental Health Support Teams our Getting Help Team is part of an exciting programme funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners, with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community. This opportunity allows you to join an innovative new service during an exciting time whilst working alongside an enthusiastic, compassionate and inspiring team

The Getting Help Team sits within Early Help and adopts a multi-agency approach to working; working closely with Bracknell Early Help Hub and services, schools, voluntary organisations, education settings and other agencies. There is also a big focus on close links with specialist CAMHS to ensure a seamless approach to care for children and young people. The role offers an exciting opportunity to continue to innovate and deliver high quality evidence-based care and whole system interventions, with great ongoing CPD opportunities.

The working pattern for this role is Monday - Friday, 9 - 5pm.

Main duties of the job

1. Deliver evidence-based intervention for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems

2. As a qualified CWP be confident in the use of CYP IAPT principles, evidence-based interventions and routine outcome measures.

3. Helping children and young people who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist services; using effective multiagency collaborative working to effectively signpost and refer on where needed

4. Supporting professionals in various settings ( education, Early Help, Social Care etc.) to identify and where appropriate manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing

5. To care co-ordinate and manage a defined caseload of children and young people presenting with emotional health and wellbeing difficulties in schools under supervision

6. To develop and provide training/workshops for professionals, parents and carers, and CYP in conjunction with colleagues.

7. Actively promote the whole system approach to developing and maintaining emotional health and well-being within and across services.

Job responsibilities

The must haves for this role:

1. Graduate Diploma/ Post Graduate Diploma qualification as a Children Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP).

2. A British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited or the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) accredited CWP training course or preparing to submit for accreditation.

3. Be confident in assessing for and delivering, high quality, outcome focused, evidence-based low intensity interventions to children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties (CWP training),

4. Be confident in working in a multiagency setting, working collaboratively with colleagues in Early Help, Social Care, schools and across the wider system.

5. As a person, will always be looking for new or better ways to deliver care and be keen to learn,

6. and most of all will have a calm, friendly and compassionate outlook and have a keen interest in early intervention and mental health promotion.

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential

Experience of working as a qualified Childrens and Young Peoples Wellbeing Practitioner Experience of working with looked after children or other vulnerable groups of CYP

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrates an understanding of common mental health issues experienced by CYP and how they may present Understanding the importance of increasing access to evidence based mental health care for CYP and their families Knowledge of evidence based low intensity interventions for CYP Knowledge of and ability to use routine outcome measures with CYP and families Understanding the importance of collecting feedback from service users and other key stakeholders, and using this to contribute to quality improvement Ability to undertake comprehensive risk assessments within scope of practice Knowledge of safeguarding issues and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of CYPand vulnerable adults Understanding of ethics and patient confidentiality of working with CYP Ability to personally manage a sensitive, and potentially emotionally distressing caseload.
