We would love you to consider joining our multi-disciplinary forensic inpatient team.

The forensic learning disability service is at an exciting time as we have a new senior team in post with lots of experience and innovative plans for delivering excellent care. As a result of the expanding service, we have vacancies for Band 5 staff nurses, and can support you with your preceptorship (if applicable).

Main duties of the job

Evenlode ward is a 10-bedded medium secure forensic ward for men with learning disabilities. A Forensic Intellectual and Neuropsychiatric and Developmental Disorders (FIND) service for the Thames Valley and Wessex areas has been developed to improve pathways through services for men with learning disabilities and a new 10-bedded low secure ward is due to be built this year on the Littlemore Mental Health Centre site.

We are very keen to recruit professionals with a commitment to continually improving services and enthusiasm to contribute to the development of the new services. The current nursing team are a proactive, positive and experienced group of professionals who pride themselves on working collaboratively with the men on the ward. We work within the principals of a positive behavior support model and encourage families' involvement with those in our care.

Job responsibilities

Our service is looking for effective nurse leaders who will promote safe, high quality care by empowering our staff and patients and promoting a culture of innovation and improvement.

The service developments have created opportunities for career development now and in the future. The Trust provides a sound preceptorship programme to support newly qualified nurses to aid their development. As a nurse, you would be encouraged to work alongside the ward management team in facilitating this programme. We have an excellent relationship with local universities and post-graduate training providers. In addition to this you will have access to both local and trust training and shadowing opportunities to support your continuing professional development.

This post attracts a RSU Lead of £1,446 per annum on top of your annual salary.

It is mandatory for you to complete Management of Violence and Aggression Training, Breakaway Training and other training directly related to the job.

You will work a rotating shift pattern to cover our 24 hour, 7 day a week service. All candidates must be computer literate.
