We’re on the lookout for a creative and hardworking individual, initially on a 12-month temporary contract. We need a designer who is confident working on both print and digital, with a little bit of motion graphics added at times too If you have illustration skills, then even better. Experience in design for email marketing is a huge advantage, especially experience in the Dot Digital platform.

You’ll be reporting to the Design & Content Manager and working closely with designers, videographers and marketeers, as well as liaising with lots of team members from around the business.

Commercial awareness is key; the BiGDUG marketing team produces creative for 5 brands within the BiGDUG/Takkt family of brands in the UK, so ensuring you stay on top of priorities is a must.

At times we need all hands on deck when we are working on larger projects and marketing campaigns. This might mean you’re mucking in on photoshoots, building our products or helping tidy our photography studio for the next large shoot. As a team we all muck in to get the job the done, and we enjoy ourselves along the way.

You’ll need to work collaboratively on multiple projects often at the same time whilst managing your workloads and timescales.

Main responsibilities:

  • Collaborative working within a tight-knit marketing team to build campaigns around the arising business needs.
  • A core responsibility will be the design and production of marketing and sales emails, spanning 5 brands within the TAKKT and BiGDUG family of brands.
  • Production of other marketing and sales promotional material, including but not limited to; web and social assets, printed literature, large scale design.
  • Production of product-based literature, such as assembly instructions and technical product documents, as well as amendments to existing documents.
  • Presenting concepts for large campaigns to senior stakeholders within the business.
  • Collaborating with other creatives in the team to ensure a common vision and consistent branding.
  • Working across multiple brands within the BiGDUG group of brands and wider within the parent company TAKKT.
  • Conceptual design through to completion, with full ownership of consistent brand styles.

What we’re looking for in you:

  • A creative thinker who isn’t afraid to make mistakes but is eager to correct them.
  • A degree in graphic design or other related subjects isn’t essential, self-taught creatives will most certainly be considered. However, degree or no degree, you must have an outstanding portfolio of work and be able to visually show us your experience, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • It is essential that you can evaluate and critique your own work as well as teammate’s work in an effective, constructive, and timely manner.
  • High levels of attention to detail are a must whilst maintaining an eye on the bigger picture and commercial benefit.
  • Previous experience in creatively challenging industries is a bonus. Although we’re more interested in how you interpret and challenge a brief.
  • Experience of design for online and offline work, with a working knowledge of print processes and file treatments.
  • Experience in Adobe CC, specifically Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator is a must.
  • Ideally you will have skills and experience of using Adobe After Effects and Premier Pro.
    Skills and experience of HTML code would be an advantage.
  • Experience of Microsoft programs, such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel as well as SharePoint or other similar online systems.
  • Experience of wireframing, mock-ups and test builds using Adobe XD (or other programs) would be advantageous although not essential.
  • The effective use of conceptual skills such as sketching, scamps and mood boards would be great to see in your portfolio.
  • Solid understanding of key Graphic Design principles; layout, colour, hierarchy, typography, imagery, and brand awareness etc.
  • An understanding and interest in UX design principles would be advantageous.
  • Confidence to communicate and explain your ideas to a wide variety of people from across the business.
