About the role

Benefact Group, are looking for a Data & Analytics Developers to join our Gloucester office on a fixed term contact.

We are currently seeking an experienced Data & Analytics Developer to design, create, develop and troubleshoot (2nd Line) data pipelines through ETL/ELT and streaming which feed our analytic processes. In this role you will supply visualisations and data services that provide knowledge to the organisation.

Key responsibilities
  • To plan and achieve tasks from which the technical solutions will be created
  • To support the data visualisation and data pipelines. 2nd Line support, ensuring that the services are fixed and deployed quickly
  • To input into and manage our data artefacts, which will include planning, task completion, unit testing, peer review, release, meta data, data modelling and deployment
  • Responsible for the creation and input of meta data to sufficient levels
  • To convert user stories into technical tasks, translating the business goal into a technical one, allowing the delivery of technical solutions
  • To use a number of modern data platform tools to progress towards continuous integration and deployment of projects in the cloud
  • To provide Data as a service to the business so that automated consumption of solutions can be achieved through a rich virtual data layer
  • To generate and provide standard visualisation packs which feed distribution partners and internal colleagues
  • Being commercial in your approach and value driven in all development
Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Must be within a commutable distance to our Gloucester office
  • Demonstrable experience of advanced technical knowledge of MS SQL Stack 2017 onwards (Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, SSIS, SSMS, SSAS, SSRS)
  • Good understanding of BI tools and approaches (Cognos, Power BI, Qilk, Tableau)
  • Strong understanding of relational and dimensional database structures, theories, principles, and practices
  • Experience in working with Cloud based solutions (AWS, Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Snowflake)
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse methodologies and data modelling
  • Excellent working knowledge of complete development lifecycle models
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills (ability to present ideas in non-technical language, confident and influential communicator at all levels, good verbal, written, and presentation skills, ability to proactively build successful internal and external relationships)
  • Customer focused and excellent understanding of the value of data and what it means to be data-driven
  • Positive attitude and flexible approach; experience of working in a pressured and complex environment requiring prioritisation of workloads and negotiation of delivery timescales; solution driven
  • Great team player with experience of working transversally; pro-active and self-starter with ability to manage own workload
  • Excellent working knowledge of data protection legislation and its practical application
  • Educated to degree in a relevant discipline, or suitable alternative experience
